Braun PS 500 Plattendreher perfekt verpacken?

#1 Beitrag von mahl » 22.10.2009, 20:45

Hi,

http://s3.directupload.net/file/d/1954/3d8oo2tv_jpg.htm

http://wegavision.pytalhost.com/braunPS500/

http://wegavision.pytalhost.com/braunPS500s.pdf

Super Service

.... danke schön. Da kann man nur zum Braunfan werden. Hoffentlich versteht der Verkäufer meine Mail dazu.

Ich habe da so meine Befürchtungen.

Hallo Thomas,

Raimund

Hallo Thomas,

herzlich willkommen in unserer Braun-Runde :D

High :D Phil,

if you open the player you will find three springs, which carrie the sub chassis. On the lower end of them you will find a special nut of round about 1,5 cm diameter and two notches a the side (and a lock nut). If you turn the special nut clockwise the spring will be stretched and the chassis will be raised up.

Probably the screw is not long enough to reach the correct hight. Then you have the part, that acts like a screw in the lower end of the spring, to turn for 1 to 1,5 turns clockwise into the spring (be carefull and do not wind it to much, because it is nearly impossible to turn it counterclockwise again). The turn (or 1,5 of a turn) which stands over the edge has to be cut of by a strong nippers or something like that.

Do do these steps you have to dismount the three absobers first. This can be done by solving the two screws on the side of the tin angle and than by pulling them down from the above mentioned screw. After the work is done, mount them again at a level, that the upper rubber surface of them is flat and not bend up or down.

That´s it!

Please apologize my poor english, but I am a little bit out of practice in writig.

Yours
TheLongOne

P. S.: The PS 500 is an excellent turntable but it is well known for its rumbling. This is caused by the friction well. Its rubber starts to get brittle. Dismount it, put it for a couple of minutes into boiling water and than flex it strongly whith your fingers. This way you will get some dB of noise reduction.

hi derlange
:D my friend took some time to adjust the suspensions. according to him it was way easier than described (i had sent him a translation of your instructions) and succeeded to reach the 4,5 heigth by twisting only the nut, without dismounting anything else nor cutting the springs... way to go! pics of this beauty when i get it back next week!
cheers

:D thanks to derlange who was a big big help and support to adjust the level of my ps500 after some hectic transportation.
we borrowed on his technique for the best part but succeeded in a simpler way.

Hello

I just got hold of a PS 500. It is my second one.
I did what is described in the quoted post and the platter is still rubbing on the faceplate toward the front of the TT.
I tried to lower the back so it would tilt the platter in order not to rub on the front but still... nothing works.
I am wondering if I should remove the rubber band underneath the platter.... Maybe it would help...

Any advice ?

Cheers

Here you can see that the blocking nuts (for the transport screws) are touching the faceplate. I supposed they should not ? Unless you put the screws.
Is it normal ?
From what I see even if I try to adjust the suspension springs those parts are blocking the chassis. That looks like it cuts the possibility to get the platter higher.
