Jetzt meinem Braun 400S-Plattenspieler braucht einen Ersatzmotor?

#1 Beitrag von Wrecka Stow » 08.06.2021, 21:03

Thanks to a fellow forum member, the repair shop was able to get the platter moving on my lovely record player, but it can’t reach the appropriate speeds. He says that he has disassembled, cleaned and reassembled the motor twice with little improvement.

He thinks that I should just try to source a replacement motor, which I am happy to do. But first, has anyone else experienced this problem and solved it another way?

Thanks in advance, friends.

Hello Kristina,
the is a known problem with the electric motor of the PS350/450 also used in the Audio 400. There is a plastic part inside the motor, which transfers the movement of the rotor to drive wheel for the rubber belt. It is glued to the rotor and if the connection is broken, the movement of the drive wheel is no longer fast enough. Your expert has to disassemble the motor (again) must glue the plastic part to the rotor again. If the problem is present, the motor produces a clickering noise when running, which is quite typical.

Best Regards
Gerhard

Dear Kristina,

if your turntable runs too fast, then you may have a problem caused by the mains frequency of 60 Hertz in your country.
I hope the link is working:

If this is your problem, you should ask your technician for help selecting the correct parts and eventually re-modify the turtable to 230VAC (most of the inverters have a 230VAC/50Hz output)

Hallo Kristina,

Dear Kristina,

there is no need for a replacement motor for your turntable. Here comes some (hopefully) helpful information.
In addition to Gerhard (wickerge), I found a thread where the plastic part of the motor is described and the problem was solved:

On the other hand, if 60Hertz are the problem, according to the servicemanual you have to replace the Motorrolle (Item 49). There only is a very small chance to find the correct "Motorrolle" for the 60Hz modification on the market but maybe here at the forum:

It may be easier, to use the inverter solution.

Have a nice day.
